Only Use the Best of Natural Acne Spot Treatments!

by Gerald Steinert

Most of the people with acne also have oily skin. The reason for this relationship between oily skin and acne is that oily skin produces more sebum than other skin types and is therefore more prone to clogged pores and acne lesions.

The best way of dealing with this problem is to establish a regular cleansing routine. When trying to treat mild to moderate cases of acne (such as facial and back acne), a regular cleansing routine can be more effective than over the counter acne creams, however, you should keep in mind that severe forms of acne should be monitored and treated by a medical professional.

How to Cleanse Oily Skin

If you have oily skin, you can use a soapy cleanser. This does not, however, mean that you can use a soap to cleanse your face. Soaps tend to dry out your skin and are not comparable to soapy cleansers. The drier your skin is the more likely it will break or crack and let in acne bacteria.

Using a soapy, gel cleanser is great for your acne skin type, especially if it contains acne fighting ingredients such as salicylic acid or retinol. Both of these ingredients will help stabilize the production of sebum. The will also help balance out the rate of cell shedding and keep debris from clogging up the pores.

Despite most people thinking otherwise, you can try a natural acne remedy if you have oily skin. Discover when you have the opportunity what the milk of magnesia does to your oily complexion. Rub it into your skin and the rinse it off with warm water.

Follow Up with Toning and Exfoliating

What a toner will do for you is to help balance out your complexion. Keep in mind though that it might not be that necessary provided your cleanser is already effectively removing your makeup, residue, and extra sebum. If at any point you decide that using a toner is necessary, make sure that it is alcohol free.

The exfoliation of your skin is something that should not be overlooked however. The amount of times you exfoliate will depend on your age and skin condition, however, the norm is usually once a week. To exfoliate simply choose a scrub or use a product that contains salicylic acid.

The different between those two exfoliation techniques is that scrubs are mechanical exfoliants and salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliant. Both types of products are a good option. It all depends on your preference. Of course, never forget to moisturize your skin even if you have oily skin!

Just by having oily skin should not make you forget about the importance of a moisturizer. The problem with oily skin is excess oil not excess moisture. With this in mind, look for a moisturizer that is oil free and apply it twice a day.
